China clinched the champions’ title after a pulsating and memorable final which went all the way down the wire. Singapore came back from 2 goals down to take the champions to extra time, then penalty shoot-out (3-3) and then sudden death penalty shoot-out. After Singapore missed its attempt, all eyes were on China’s captain Du Chen. He did not let his country down, easily scoring to emerge 4-3 victors.
Iran, who delighted the crowd throughout the tournament with their never-say-die fighting spirit, deservedly won the bronze, defeating Sri Lanka 2-0. Chinese Taipei took 5th place with a narrow win over Oman (3-2). Hong Kong came 7th.
