Iran, the surprise team of the tournament, and Sri Lanka have qualified for the semi-finals on Saturday 30 July. In yesterday’s (27 July) Pool B encounters, Iran beat pool favourites Chinese Taipei 2-1 and Sri Lanka defeated Hong Kong by a solidarity goal (1-0).

Today’s (28 July) last Pool A match between China and Oman will decide which of the three teams will go forward to the semi-final stage. China, sitting on 3 points, need a draw to head the pool. Oman, who have yet to secure any points, have to beat China to relish any hope of finishing in the top two.
