The Hong Kong Hockey Association invites you to enter teams in the HKHA Summer Mixed Hockey League commencing on Monday June 20th 2011 and finishing on Friday 2nd September. The entry fee is $2,500 per team.
The HKHA Summer Mixed League will be played on weekday evenings at Happy Valley from 18:30 until 23:00. On Mondays through Fridays we have the use of the Happy Valley 1 pitch and on Tuesdays and Fridays we also have the use of the Happy Valley 2 pitch.
The exact competition format will be determined once the team entries have been received. It will most likely be based on 2 pools, each of 10 to 12 teams and each pool will play 2 rounds. Teams may be moved between pools at the end of the first round. Each team can expect to play once or twice each week, on average.
The objective of the Mixed Summer League is for all matches to be played on a friendly and informal basis. However, any team wishing to participate on a competitive basis should indicate this on the entry form by registering under Division 1. If there are 6 or more teams wanting to play competitively a competitive division (Division 1) will be created. This year ALL match results will be recorded by completion of the attached Match Report Card which the Home team captains must print and take to the match. For Division 1 a winner will be declared and Player Registration Rules will be enforced (see Mixed Summer League Bylaws).
Clubs / teams interested in taking part in the Mixed Summer League should complete the attached Team Registration Form and submit it to the HKHA (hkha@hockey.org.hk) on or before 17:00 on Monday 6th June 2011. Entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis with priority being given to the first teams from each club and then the second / third teams. Entry fees need not be sent at the same time as the registration form but must be received by the HKHA office on or before 17:00 on Friday 17th June, 2011. Any team that has not paid by this date will not be entered into the league. Player Registration Forms must also be submitted on or before 17:00 on Friday 17th June 2011, however teams may add players to their team list at any time during the league, provided that no player may be registered for more than one Division 1 team.
Any team that is aware of specific dates on which it may not be able to field a team may state this in a covering e-mail when submitting their registration form (this mainly applies to student teams). The HKHA will attempt to take such requests into account when determining the match schedule but cannot promise to meet all requirements.
Any players who wish to play but are not affiliated with a team can submit their names by e-mail and the HKHA will assist them to join a team.
Please note that, except as indicated in the HKHA Summer Mixed Hockey League Bylaws, all games will be played in accordance with the FIH Rules of Hockey and the HKHA Rules. Players are reminded of the importance of fair play, good sportsmanship, good conduct on the pitch and not bringing the game of hockey into disrepute. Any players that do not abide by the Rules and Bylaws may be brought before the HKHA Disciplinary Committee who may award penalties that are carried forward into the 2011/2012 Winter Leagues.
