This Sunday, 6 May 2012, sees three Hong Kong men’s teams crossing over to Macau to play in the Annual Interport hockey matches against our neighbours. The series was revived in 2008 after a lapse of a number of years. Hong Kong holds an overall advantage over Macau, with 3 wins (in 2008, 2010 & 2011) and a draw (2009) at the senior level. The Hong Kong Veterans have been superb winning all 4 encounters, albeit, by close scores. After a defeat in 2008, the Macau juniors came back strongly with a draw in 2009, followed by consecutive wins in the last two years.
The Hong Kong Veterans and the Seniors should again start as favourites. The Hong Kong juniors will largely feature players from the recent victorious schoolboys team, which defeated Macau Schoolboys at King’s Park by 3-0. It remains to be seen if they can repeat the feat at the U-21 level.
1400 Juniors (U-21)
Venue: Macau Hockey Stadium, Taipa.
