The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has announced that a record 8 countries have submitted confirmation of participation in the Women’s Junior AHF Cup to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 4th to the 12th June. The tournament is a qualifying competition for the Junior Asia Cup which is to be held in 2012. The participating countries have been divided into 2 pools with Chinese-Taipei, Hong Kong China, Indonesia and Uzbekistan in Pool A and Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand in Pool B

Chinese-Taipei were the first winners of the this tournament in 2003 and are considered to start as favourites. However Kazakhstan have recently powered into the women’s scene at a senior level and are also expected to be strong contenders, whilst Thailand, with home team advantage, may also provide strong opposition.
